It's always an honor to make custom award pieces for NASA. We've made many awards for them in the past, and we were contacted once again to design crystal awards to commemorate the Dawn spacecraft encounter with Vesta, an object in the asteroid belt in 2011.
These crystal awards are one of the proudest designs to date. Using 3-D engravings, this award has the sleekness of space technology to it. The body of this award consists of a solid clear block of crystal, which features the finely detailed Dawn spacecraft floating in space.
The stars and galaxy are also finely detailed which gives the award's graphic design vastness and to finish, we've also added the Vesta asteroid. The front-end of this award also serves as the ideal location for text engravings. The font's color-fill is a greyish white, the same as the different graphics in the award. This color-fill helps the text and graphics engravings pop, making them more vivid to the eye.
